(Agawam, MA) A small group of Robinson Park Elementary School parents, faculty and supporters recently rose to the challenge posed by Balise Motor Sales, Vice President, Mike Balise. The school was looking for financial support to purchase Epson Bright Link boards for classrooms at the school. Mike Balise told organizers, if they could raise $5,000, then Balise would match $5,000.
So the group led by volunteer Carolyn Reed set out to do just that. She organized the first ever Agawam Techno Trot. With an entrance fee and participants encouraged to get sponsors for their run, the group raised OVER $12,000!
Balise said, "The event was unbelievable. It was run like a professional road race. I was overwhelmed by the community support for this and the fabulous, grass roots effort done by these dedicated volunteers. Because of this, we've decided to match the entire amount raised, $12,364. This will give the school enough money to purchase Epson Bright Link boards for three entire grades at the school."
Balise will present a check for $12,364 to event organizers at the Robinson Park School on Begley Street on Wednesday, June 13 at 1:30pm.
Balise added, "We live in Western Mass. We do business in Western Mass. We need to help keep our communities strong and vibrant for the next generation."
